Dr. Serdal Sevinc has a diverse scientific background and multiple University degrees, including a DVM (University of Ankara), Turkey, MPhil in Bacteriology (University of London, UK), MSc in Microbiology University of Alberta, Canada), and received his PhD in 1997 from University of Manitoba, Canada.

He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at University of Ottawa (1997-2002), and as a researcher at Health Canada (2002-2012). Currently, he is working as scientific evaluator of biotechnology products, at Health Canada, Government of Canada.

His research area and expertise includes various aspects of Microbiology, including Genetics, Molecular and Cell Biology, focusing on mutagenesis, cloning and protein expression, knockout mouse, mold allergens.

He has authored 14 peer-reviewed research articles and 1 book chapter. He has identified and submitted 2 novel allergens from Penicillium species: Pen cr 26 from Penicillium crustosum and Pen b 26 from Penicillium brevicompactum WHO/IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Subcommittee.

He has peer-reviewed research articles for numerous journals, including Clinical Biochemistry, Human Immunology, Journal of Immunological Methods, Biochemical Engineering Journal, Environmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, Protein Expression and Purification, Microbiology Insights, Journal of Clinical Laboratory Analusis, Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Biochemical Techniques, Infection, Genetics and Evolution, Inflammation, Immunobiology.

He served as a member the editorial board of Chinese Journal of Biological Sciences-Genetics from 2014 to until the journal discontinued publication in August 2016. He has been a member of the editorial board of Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Biochemical Techniques since 2015.
