2013
- 2016 Ph.D. Aquaculture.
Minors: Molecular Biology, Lipid Nutrition. School of Marine Science
Title of dissertation: Molecular mechanism of long chain-polyunsaturated fatty
acids biosynthesis and its regulation in Sinonovacula constricta. Graduate
advisor: Dr. Jilin Xu
2023 - 2024 Visiting Scholar. Nutrition, Metabolism, and Genomics, Division of Human Nutrition and Health, University of Wageningen, Netherlands. Title of research project: Molecular mechanism of lipid droplets accumulation in starved HepG2 Cells. Lab director: Dr. Sander Kersten.
Research Interest: 1. Molecular regulation of lipid metabolism. The aim is to understand the molecular regulation of lipid metabolism in aquatic animals and mammals, partly via elucidating the functional role of specific genes. 2. Immunometabolism, adipose tissue, and metabolic health. The aim is to better understand the role of adipose tissue and the immune system in metabolic dysregulation caused by (over)nutrition and characterize the underlying mechanisms using molecular and omics tools. 3. Environmental influences on lipid nutrition in aquatic animals, especially light. The overarching goal is to improve the health of aquatic animals and mammals in terms of lipid nutrition.
